Biography

Ronnie Kauffman skated pairs with his sister, Cynthia. After winning the 1963 US Junior pairs title, they first made a podium at the US Championships in 1964, placing third, and in 1965 they moved up to second. From 1966-69, the Kauffmans won four consecutive US title. They competed at two Winter Olympic Games, and six times at the World Championships, where they won three consecutive bronze medals, from 1966-68. They were North American champions in 1967 and 1969. The Kauffmans were the first pair to perform a throw Axel jump. They were inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1995. Ronnie Kauffman attended Shoreline Junior College and served in the US Army in the late 1960s, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
