Hisatoshi Ito pitched for the Japanese Students Team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics demonstration baseball tournament, while he was a student at Komazawa University. He was taken by the Chunichi Dragons in the second round of the 1966 Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) draft and played for them from 1967-1974. Ito was traded to the Taiheiyo Club Lions in 1975 but only played eight games with the Lions before retiring. His career record was 26-32 with a 3.32 ERA in NPB.
