Tamio Suetugu was an outfielder for the Japanese Students Team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics demonstration baseball tournament, while he was a student at Chuo University. He later played for the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball from 1965-77, helping them win nine Japan Series. He was a five-time All-Star in NPB, from 1972-76. Suetugu coached the Giants from 1978-94.
