Bob Hall was the starting left tackle on the West Team at the 1932 Olympic demonstration. Born in Del Rio, Texas, Hall and his brother King were orphaned at a young age due to the death of their parents. Bob Hall grew up at the Fort Worth Masonic Home, where he learned to play football and starred on the football team. He also took up track and field there, specializing in shot put and discus throw.
Hall attended Terrill Prep in Dallas, where he eventually earned a scholarship to play football at Southern Cal. He was also on the track team there, competing in the shot put and discus throw and winning an NCAA title in 1931 in both events, the first person since Gus Pope did so in 1921. Hall was a member of the USC Trojans’ back-to-back national championship football teams, in 1931 and 1932. He later moved to Houston, where he was a successful builder.
