James Donovan played in the basketball tournament that was held during the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. Cleveland represented the Xavier Athletic Club, which finished last in the tournament. Donovan is known to have played in their loss to the Buffalo Germans, and he was Xavier’s leading scorer with nine points in that game.
