Biography

Bret Barberie was an infielder who played for the USA at the 1988 Olympic demonstration baseball tournament. Barberie played at Cerritos College, where he was drafted three times, and then finally finished playing at Southern Cal, after which he was drafted in the seventh round by the Montreal Expos.

Barberie made it to the majors in 1991 with the Expos and played in Montreal in 1991-92. He then played with the Florida Marlins in 1993-94, the Baltimore Orioles in 1995, and finished his Major League career in 1996 with the Chicago Cubs. He ended with a career batting average of .271.

Barberie continued trying to get back to the Major Leagues. In 1997 he played for the Mission Viejo Vigilantes of the Western Baseball League and in 1998 he played for the Oklahoma City RedHawks of the Pacific Coast League.

Barberie was married from 1996-2002 to Jillian Barberie, who became known as the weather girl on the FOX NFL Pre-Game Shows. Bret Barberie later owned and operated a baseball facility in Santa Clarita, California.
