Caleb Kelly started playing lacrosse in Baltimore at the Friends High School. At Johns Hopkins University Kelly was captain of the basketball team and played lacrosse as a midfielder. He continued to play in Baltimore for the local athletic club’s lacrosse team while he was a law student at the University of Maryland. During World War II Kelly joined the Air Force as a physical instructor. He was a reserve officer until 1968, when he retired as a lieutenant-colonel. After the war he coached lacrosse at the University of Baltimore and later became a referee. In 1959 Kelly published a standard book on lacrosse rules. His younger brother [Donaldson] was also a member of the Olympic team.
Caleb Kelly worked as an attorney running a law practice in Baltimore. He actually worked until he was 92 and remained active, playing tennis, cycling, dancing and swimming into his old age.
