Biography

As a child Fritz Stude lived in Ontario, Canada for some time before returning to his home state of Maryland. He graduated in 1929 from the Catonsville High School, where he excelled in various sports. In his last year he captained the state championship basketball team and also played center-forward on the state championship soccer team. Attending Johns Hopkins, Stude continued to play basketball successfully and took up lacrosse as a goalie. He tended goal for the 1932 Johns Hopkins National championship team, which qualified for the 1932 Olympics. After graduation Stude played goalie for the Mt. Washington lacrosse team for 10 years, winning seven national titles. He remained connected to lacrosse as a referee, coach and official. In 1970, he was awarded the Golden Lacrosse Sticks and was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Privately, Stude was an active tennis player and golfer. In World War II he served in the US Air Force. Afterwards Stude worked in the advertising department of major two major newspapers and in the sales department for Proctor and Gamble.
