Biography

Craig Blanchette, born with a birth defect called PFFD, competed in the 1,500 metre wheelchair demonstration event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He brought home an Olympic Bronze medal from the Seoul, Korea Olympic Games in 1988 and earned an incredible 21 World Records in road and track racing. He was a nine-time world champion and earned an incredible 21 World Records in road and track racing.

Blanchette became a licensed massage therapist and experienced coach who assisted people in harnessing self-control, embracing healthy structures, and achieving long-term success. He has devoted himself to guiding others towards sustainable health and optimal well-being.

Blanchette then also became a well-known motivational speaker. He continued to compete and was badly injured at the 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in a marathon, when an unannounced course change caused him to crash into a parked car. In a lawsuit against the organizers of the marathon, Blanchette was awarded $4,000,000 in a jury trial. Blanchette planned to use the money for a wheelchair sports camp for children in Minnesota.

Blanchette married and seemingly had a successful life. He became father to two children and a loving grandfather to four. Blanchette also embraced Christianity and credited this for helping save his marriage and his family.
