Biography

Liz Allan-Shetter is often considered the greatest female water skier of all-time. She competed at the 1972 München Olympics when water skiing was a demonstration sport, and won the slalom. She was the World Combined Champion in 1965, 1969, and 1973, and won eight individual world titles – one in tricks, three in slalom, and four in jumps. In 1969 she won the grand slam, winning the combined and all three segments, the only time this has ever been accomplished at the Worlds by a man or woman (through 2018). Allen-Shetter won 42 national titles, and from her first appearance at the US Nationals in 1962, until her 1975 retirement, she never failed to win at least two of the four available titles. Nine times, Allan-Shetter entered the Masters Cup for women and nine times she won it.
