Biography

German track cyclist Kathrin Freitag placed ninth in the sprint event and seventh in the individual time trial at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She burst into the scene in 1990 winning the Youth Sprint World Championships and defending the title over the next two years. In 1995 and 1997 she was German sprint champion, and the time trial champion in 2000. Freitag won a World Cup race at Sydney in 2004 but could not qualify for the Athens Olympics, and subsequently retired.
