Biography

German dressage rider Ulla Salzgeber won the team gold medal at both the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics. Individually, she added the bronze medal in 2000 and the silver medal four years later. At World Championships, she collected two more team golds in 1998 and 2002, and the individual bronze medal in both of those years. At the Europeans, Salzgeber was on the winning German teams in 1997, 1999, 2001, and 2003. She also won individual gold medals in 2001 and 2003, and a silver medal in 1999. In 2000 and 2003-04, she also won the German national title.

Salzgeber was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. She became a graduated lawyer and, along with her husband, founded a training centre for dressage riders at Bad Wörishofen. In addition to her sporting career, Salzgeber set up the Ulla Salzgeber Children Charity for the patient club of the Orthopedic University Clinic in Frankfurt am Main.
