Arjen Teeuwissen found his ideal horse match in Goliath T. Together they won the Dutch title in 1999, earning them a spot on the national team. At that year’s European Championships, Teeuwissen came in third individually, moving up to silver at the 2001 edition. He also earned two team silvers at those events. At the 2000 Olympics, Teeuwissen could not contend for the medals individually, as he was eliminated in the second round of competition. Behind Germany, Teeuwissen and the Dutch team won a silver medal in the team competition. After an injury for Goliath in 2004, Teeuwissen struggled to reach the same level with another horse, ultimately retiring in 2014. Together with his husband, a former chef cook, he turned a former Belgian war fortress (Fort Oudaen) into a dressage stable. They ran the stable for nearly three decades, with Teeuwissen also training riders there. The had recently withdrawn from the business to focus on a restaurant when Teeuwissen died unexpectedly at age 53.
