Julie Black-Burns Richards

Julie Black-Burns Richards was an equestrienne who competed in eventing at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, winning a silver in 2004 in the team event. She grew up riding on her family’s farm in Newnan, Georgia and later attended the University of Georgia.

Richards first competed at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in 1998, finishing fifth on Hyde Park Corner (her 2000 Olympic horse), and competed at the highest level of eventing through 2016. She also finished fifth at the Rolex Kentucky event in 1999. Richards won the 2014 Dutta Corp Fair Hill International and placed third at the 2016 Ocala International.

In 2010, Julie returned to her family farm, the Burns Farm, where she started her business, training horses and coaching riders and horses, primarily in eventing. She has trained many horses to the 4* and 5* level.
