Pierre Souzy was a student of the architect Gaston Redon (1853-1921) before he was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in 1913. During WW I he was awarded the Croix de Guerre. He eventually completed his studies in 1920. His thesis “Wine Cellars in Burgundy” was selected for the prize for the best diploma of the year. In 1921, Souzy became a member of the Société des Architectes Diplômés par le Gouvernement. He later established himself as an architect in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. His best-known project was the Institut hélio-thérapique sanatorium in Vallauris (1932-35), for which he used buildings by Henri Sauvage, a member of the 1924 jury, as a prototype. Souzy was appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor.
