Biography

Masanobu Kobuchi was a former director of the Japan Nanga (southern style painting) Institute, which was Japan’s largest ink painting organization. Little is known of his life. He entered the Arts Competitions at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but it is not known in which category. He is more likely to be classified as a traditional painter but is listed in the catalog under oil paintings.
