Osaka born Japanese painter Ryokichi Sakai went to Europe in 1928, spending six years there for graduate studies of western painting. He exhibited at the Nika-Kai Exhibitions prior to World War II, beginning in 1926. Sakai also became a member of the Ichisuikai group presenting his works at their exhibitions, in particular after the revival post-WW2.
