Inui “Ken” Tasaka was the son-in-law of famous printmaker and painter Ishii Hakutei, who was also one of his teachers alongside Ikuma Arishima and Shintaro Yamashita at the Bunka Gakuin School. Initially he created mainly woodblock prints, and later specialized in etching and lithography. Tasaka took part in numerous exhibitions and published a number of books. After the war he concentrated on oil paintings producing Japanese landscapes and was a member of the standing committee of the Ichisuikai Art Group. His entry titled Skiers dated to his early days as a printmaker.
