Biography

Menno van Meeteren Brouwer studied in Harlem and Amsterdam. He was a Dutch illustrator, mainly for school and children’s books, a book binding designer, and cartoonist. He also painted several landscapes and produced drawings about life in the Dutch East Indies, depicting realistic and typical Indonesian scenes with which the Indonesian populace could identify, but also the westerners living and working in the Dutch colony.
