Eduard Büsser

Eduard Büsser was a painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Gewerbeschule (vocational school) in Basel and the School of Arts and Crafts in München. In 1924 he received his diploma and worked as an art teacher at various schools in St. Gallen, commercial artist and sign writer. Later, he travelled – sometimes with his brother, sculptor Josef Büsser – throughout Europe with longer stays in Paris and other French cities as well as in Italy and Berlin. His oil and water color paintings were characterized by land- and cityscapes and nude studies. Eduard Büsser started in the Impressionist style, then turned to Classicism, and finally to Primitivism.

There is a series of graphically designed postcards from the Swiss Bundesturnfest. Of these, one could also have served as a Poster for the 1925 Federal Gymnastics Competition in Geneva. However, none of the postcards can be clearly attributed to Eduard Büsser.
