Finnish track and field athlete Kari Töyrylä was active in the mid-1980s, specialising in the shot put. In 1983 Töyrylä won silver in the event at the Finnish championships before repeating the feat the following year. These performances earned him a place on the Olympic team but he did not start the event at the Los Angeles Games.
