German windsurfer Amelie Lux won a surprising silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the mistral class. Four years later at Athens, she finished seventh. Lux was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
Lux won several German national titles with the mistral and race board. She won the Youth World Championships in 1994 and 1995, and was ranked #2 on the World Ranking List in 2001 and 2003. Lux won the silver medal at the 2005 World Championships. She became a physiotherapist by profession.
