Biography

German one-person dinghy sailor Petra Niemann was a three-time Olympian. She finished 13th, tenth and 15th at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympics, respectively. The first two years were with the Europe class and the third one with the laser radial class.

Niemann won a silver medal at the 2006 World Championships and two bronzes, in 2002 and 2007. In 1998 and 2001 she won the German national title. Just ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Niemann posed naked for the German edition of Playboy magazine. By profession, she became a motivational coach, mainly focussing on seminars on the core topic of “success”. She also offered training and regatta maintenance.
