Biography

German beach volleyball player Andreas Scheuerpflug partnered Oliver Oetke at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when both lost their first-round match to the eventual champions Dain Blanton and Eric Fonoimoana 15-7. Four years later at Athens, Scheuerpflug reached the quarter-finals with Christoph Dieckmann, but lost to Australians Julien Prosser and Mark Williams by two sets to one.

Scheuerpflug won the German national title five times. In 1994 with non-Olympian Bernhard Hoffmann, in 1999-2000 with Oetke, and in 2003-04 with Dieckmann. Scheuerpflug later became a schoolteacher of mathematics and physical education at Berlin and married his non-Olympian team-mate Martina Stoof. He also managed several German beach volleyball pairs.
