Japanese ice hockey player Masao Murano represented Murano Shoten, a family business that specialised in the wholesale of alcohol. The company had more than 500 retailers in the Tokyo area alone, with Murano eventually becoming the chairman. At its peak the company had annual sales in excess of $32 million. On the ice he was good enough to be selected to represent the Japanese national team, playing in four matches at the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics.
