Biography

René Flèche started competing for the Association Nautique de la Marne around 1946. He won the K1 10,000 metres event at the 1947 Île de France Championships, where he also finished second in the 500 metres sprint event, behind Raymond Richez. In 1948, he was chosen to represent his country at the Olympic Games at London. Competing in the K2 10,000 metres event alongside Maurice Graffen, the pair finished 12th in a field of 15 competitors, two seconds behind the Swiss pair of Werner Zimmermann and Fritz Frey. In 1949, Flèche won national titles in the K1 10,000 metres (1949) and K2 500 metres, alongside P. Bocher of Société Nautique du Tour de Marne.
