Biography

Austrian Alpine skier Gerhard Pfaffenbichler participated in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. He competed in the downhill event and placed fifth. Pfaffenbichler won the Austrian national downhill title in 1981, and 1983 won his only World Cup race at Sarajevo, also in the downhill.

After his active skiing career, Pfaffenbichler moved to football (soccer) and played in a lower league. Later he became a football coach, also coached his son Hannes. By profession, Gerhard was an insurance agent.
