Austrian biathlete Martin Pfurtscheller participated in his only Olympic Winter Olympics at Lillehammer 1994. He finished ninth with the Austrian relay and placed 43rd and 57th in the 10 km sprint and 20 km, respectively. Nationally, he enjoyed five podiums with the relays, one gold medal (1994), three silvers (1995, 1997-98) and one bronze (1992).
Pfurtscheller was later employed as a ski technician at the competence centre of the Austrian Ski Association in Bramberg am Wildkogel.
