Biography

Edmund Rabanser was an Italian ice hockey player and coach. He began his career with the Ortisei team where he made his début in Serie A in December 1956. In 1958 he moved to Diavoli Rossoneri in Milano. Rabanser competed at three editions of the prestigious Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, helping his team win silver in 1958. In 1959 he won his first Italian title. He later played for Ortisei, Bolzano Sudtiroler SV and, from 1964, with HC Gardena with whom he won the 1969 Italian league title. From 1957 to 1970 Rabanzer was on the Italian national team, playing at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics and various editions of the World Championships, including that of 1967 in group B.

After ending his playing days, in 1971 Gardena entrusted him with the leadership of the first team, but in the same season the Italian Federation hired him, albeit for a few months, as coach of the national team. He also coached Merano and Asiago and the Italian U-20 side in the 1980s.
