Biography

Jay Rand attended the Northwood School in Lake Placid and became a world class ski jumper, competing nationally and internationally with the US ski jumping team from 1966-77. Rand competed at the 1970 and 1974 World Championships. A graduate of the University of Colorado, he was NCAA ski jumping champion while there, and later attended graduate school at the University of Vermont. He settled around Lake Placid, and later became manager of the Lake Placid Olympic ski jump complex. After several years in that position, he was made the manager of the Whiteface Mountain Ski Area. Rand also served as a board member for North Elba Township.
