Austrian alpine skier Erwin Resch was a downhill specialist. He finished 11th at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. In 1982 he won the bronze medal at the world championships, and in 1984 he finished second in the overall downhill world cup. Resch gained two Austrian national titles in 1986 and 1990. He later founded and ran a skiing and sports centre at Katschberg.
