Biography

Georg Riesch was the middle of three ice hockey playing brothers, between older brother Walter and younger brother Hans, and made his senior level début with the ZSC Lions during the 1954-55 season. During his career, he won the Swiss National League in 1961 and the Swiss Cup in 1960 and 1961. He was also selected to represent Switzerland at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics, where his nation was eliminated in the preliminary round and placed 9th overall out of 10 nations. He retired from active competition in 1966 and later took up coaching, briefly heading the ZSC Lions in the early 1970s.
