Biography

Ron Rossi slid doubles with Doug Bateman and in 1983 the two finished sixth in the Grosser Preis event in Igls, Austria, the best finish to that time by an American doubles luge team. They were also the 1983 North American doubles champions. Rossi slid singles as well, placing third in the 1982 US Championships. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Yonkers, New York, where he played baseball and track, and then from Manhattan College, in 1979 with a degree in electrical engineering. At the time of the 1984 Winter Olympics, Rossi was a computer operator with a New York advertising firm, but later became an executive with USA Luge, serving as their long-time Executive Director.
