Biography

Andreas Schifferer was an Austrian Alpine skier who specialized in speed disciplines. He participated in two Winter Olympics – 1998 at Nagano and 2002 at Salt Lake City. In 1998, he placed seventh in the downhill and tied for 19th in the super-G. At Salt Lake City he earned a bronze medal in the super-G, matching his 1997 World Championship bronze in giant slalom.

Schifferer won the overall downhill World Cup in 1998 and eight World Cup races in total. Nationally, he won the super-G titles in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2002, the downhill titles in 1999 and 2002, the giant slalom title in 2004, and the combined title in 1994. In 1998, he was awarded the Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria.
