Biography

Deborah Nordyke competed in biathlon for the United States at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Nordyke was in the military, having joined the Alaska Air National Guard in 1987. A few years later she joined the National Guard Biathlon Team, which led to positions on the US National Biathlon Team, and the Air Force World Class Elite Athlete Team. She later transferred to the New York Air National Guard, where she was a senior master sergeant of the 109th Airlift Wing’s 109th Maintenance Squadron at Stratton Air National Guard Base. In civilian life, Nordyke worked as a teacher. She married Curt Schreiner, who was a US biathlete at three Olympic Games, and they settled in upstate New York in the Adirondacks.
