Eventing was held in and around Central Stadium at the Aldershot Military Complex, which was the home ground of the British Army’s football and rugby teams, and was about 60 km from London. Team and individual events were held concurrently over four days. Bernard Chevallier won the individual title, and the United States took the team gold medal. The competitions were restricted to men and military officers. In 1952, civilians would be allowed in dressage and jumping, but women did not compete in Olympic eventing until 1964.
