| Venues | Eugenio Monti Sliding Centre, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Belluno |
The bobsleigh events held in Cortina were the same as at the last two Winter Olympics, after the women’s monobob was introduced as the fourth event. They were held on the newly built Cortina Sliding Centre Eugenio Monti. The construction of the track was controversial due to the high costs involved, but was praised as a venue by most pilots. However, it proved to be a selective track in particular for the four-man sleds.
As at Beijing 2022, Germany dominated, winning three of the four events. Only in the monobob did Elana Meyers Taylor (USA) break their winning streak and won gold. She followed her compatriot Kallie Humphries as gold medallist, while Humphries still managed to win the bronze.
In addition to their three gold, Germany won all four silver medals for a 1-2 finish in three events. In the two-man bob they even repeated the clean sweep from 2022 in Beijing. The remaining medals went to the United States (1-0-2) and Switzerland (0-0-1). Canada, in 2022, number three in the medal table with two bronze, had only one top-10 result, Melissa Lotholz’ sixth place in the monobob.
Johannes Lochner replaced Francesco Friedrich as the most successful pilot, winning gold in both men’s events, as did Friedrich at PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022. In 2026 in Cortina, Friedrich had to be content with two silver medals.
A total of 201 athletes competed in bobsleigh, 133 men and 68 women, representing 24 NOCs (18 and 17, respectively). Denmark and Israel made their Olympic debut. The three countries that medalled in Cortina also lead the all-time medal table in bobsleigh with Germany at the top with 40 (19-13-8) trailed by Switzerland with 32 (10-10-12) and the United States with 31 (9-11-11).
