Stångstörtning was displayed in the main Olympic Stadium. Stångstörtning is almost identical in principle to the Scottish caber toss. The event uses a large timber pole with a length of about 5 metres (16 feet), measuring 13 centimetres (5½ inches) in bottom diameter, and 7 centimetres (3 inches) in top diameter. Holding the thicker, bottom end, the player takes a short run, and then attempts to throw the caber as far as possible, getting it to turn over and fall away from the player. The winner is the one who throws farthest and who gets his pole to turn over properly.
