Biography

Jane Bidstrup first appeared internationally for Denmark in the 1980s. In 1983 and 1984, she skipped Hvidovre CC to the Danish title. After the 1986 European Championships bronze on home ice, Bidstrup retired, only to return as an alternate on the Danish team in the late 1990s. Without playing, she won a bronze at the World Championships in 1997. She did get playing time at the 1998 Winter Olympics, where Denmark surprisingly reached the final and won the country’s first ever Winter Olympic medal, a silver. Bidstrup later became a coach, leading the Danish women to another World Championship bronze in 1999 and a European bronze in 2003. Jane’s sister Lene was on the 2002 Danish Olympic team.
