Biography

The son of Louis-Victor Tabouret-Puiforcat, in 1918 Jean Puiforcat entered the family goldsmithing business, which had been founded in 1820 by Jean’s great-grandfather Félix-Armand Puiforcat. Jean was selected for the French ice hockey team at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics but did not play in any matches.

Under Puiforcat’s guidance the family goldsmithing business became quite famous between the two World Wars. He also worked as a silversmith, showing at the Decorative Arts exhibition in 1925, and the 1937 International Exhibition, where he exhibited objects intended for the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Trinité in Blois.
