Biography

Hubert Lévy-Grunwald was on the 1924 French hockey team but did not play in any matches. Known was a top speed skater, he came from a prominent Jewish family in Paris. He also excelled at tennis, golf, and sailing. In 1932 Lévy-Grunwald was chosen by Jeff Dickson as manager of La Société du Palais des Sports, and Lévy-Grunwald became President of that group in 1943 when Dickson was killed in the war while serving in the US Air Force. Lévy-Grunwald managed th Vélodrome d’Hiver until it was demolished in 1959.
