Biography

Carl Axel Pettersson played third right-handed for the second Swedish curling team in the game against France at the first Winter Olympics, which was won by Sweden 18-10. He worked as a manager in the clothing industry and became chairman of the Swedish association of the clothing industry. He was Consul General for Hungary in Sweden and was active in Swedish-Hungarian federations. Pettersson was one of Stockholm’s Council of the 50 Elders, a freemason and received various distinctions including Knight of the Order of the Polar Star, Knight of the Order of Vasa and the Royal Hungarian Order of Merit. Pettersson outlived his wife Kerstin by 17 years and was buried on the Norra cemetery in Stockholm. They had three children.
