Biography

Pavol Svitana was a goaltender who started his career in 1964 with Lokomotiva Poprad, playing for them for three seasons before joining HC Dukla Jihlava. In 1969 he moved to VSZ Košice and played for that Slovakian club for the remainder of his career, which ended in 1980. In 1978-79 Svitana was in net for the Czechoslovakian All-Stars that played a limited schedule in the World Hockey Association (WHA) in North America. His only two international tournaments came in 1976, when he won silver medals at both the Winter Olympics and in the Canada Cup.
