Biography

Ernst Heincke raced the K-4 event at the 1968 Olympics. Heincke was born in Germany but emigrated to Canada in 1958 with his wife and two daughters. In 1960 they moved to the United States. He had learned to canoe in Germany and continued that in the United States. Heincke also built wooden kayaks and canoes. He worked as a computer programmer for Loral Corporation, retiring in 1993. Heincke was known for his encyclopedic memory in many different areas, and was known by his friends as the “professor.”
