As the Executive Vice-President of the Lillehammer Olympic Organizing Committee Petter Rønningen was one of the team that helped to secure and stage the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics in Norway. Amongst other business roles Rønningen worked in a leadership post in the Norwegian Armed Forces. After the Lillehammer Games he supported the bid for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and worked on the IOC’s evaluation committee for the 2004 Athína Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Rønningen was awarded with the Olympic Order in Silver in 1994.
