Before becoming a figure in Maltese sports administration Lino Farrugia Sacco worked as a lawyer, magistrate, and judge, being appointed to the latter role in 1997. Farrugia Sacco served as the President of the Maltese Olympic Committee from 1999 to 2013, as well as being the President of both the Malta Tennis Federation and the Malta Table Tennis Association. He worked extensively with the Mediterranean Games where he was an executive board member and a chair of the anti-doping commission. Farrugia Sacco also served as an arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration of Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland.
