Mirabror Usmanov was a politician who served as the President of several sporting bodies in Uzbekistan. Usmanov began his career as a chef working in various restaurants in Tashkent. After becoming a director of a restaurant trust, he eventually became the head of the main department of public catering. During the 1990s he was Uzbekistan’s Minister of Trade before serving as the country’s deputy Prime Minister from 1994 to 2005. Usmanov then served as the President of multiple sporting organisations, including the Football Federation of Uzbekistan (2006–17), the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan (2013–17), and the Central Asian Football Federation (2015–17).
