A top Austrian road racer of the 1970s, Sigi Denk raced six times in the Tour of Austria, placing as follows: 1970 – 9th; 1971 – 24th; 1972 – DNF; 1974 – 3rd; 1976 – 22nd; and 1977 – 8th. Denk won the Austrian road race championship in 1971 and 1974 and in 1974 won the points classification at the Tour of Austria. He was also runner-up at the Uniqa Classic in both 1974 and 1975.
At the 1972 München Olympics he came tenth with the 100 km time trial team. He raced through the 1977 season and then took his own life in 1982, aged only 32-years-old.
