Jacques Dupont was a cyclist who won gold on track in the kilometre time trial at the 1948 London Olympics, also adding a bronze medal in the team road race. He was French amateur champion in 1948 in the individual pursuit and the road race, and repeated as national pursuit champion in 1949.
Dupont turned professional in 1950 with Peugeot-Dunlop and competed in the pro peloton through 1960 with multiple different teams. Dupont won Paris-Tours in 1951 and 1955, winning the 1955 race with what was then a record speed for any professional race as he covered the 253 km at an average speed of 43.7 km/hr. During his career, he won at least 25 minor professional races. Dupont rode the Tour de France several times, but never managed a stage podium finish. After his cycling career ended, he worked at a butcher and in retail before retiring in 1993.
