Biography

Jack Hartman was a sprinter who won the California sprint title five times, in 1952-53, 1956-57, and 1960. He rode the tandem sprint at the 1960 Olympics along with David Sharp. Hartman was US Champion in 1959 in the 5-mile scratch race. Hartman attended San Jose State University and rode for the San Jose Bike Club. After the 1960 Olympics Hartman and Bob Tetzlaff formed the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club, which was the club Greg Lemond first started with for training rides.
